Pistons Podcast: New episode featuring a local and national writer
By Sham Mohile
Over the weekend, I sat down with a few nationally-recognized writers to pick their brain about the Pistons, general NBA, and other topics on the latest episode of my podcast.
The Detroit Pistons, coming off an impressive win against the Sacramento Kings, have very seldom been in the national spotlight.
Aside from the blockbuster trade that brought Blake Griffin to Detroit, national writers have given very little thought and coverage for the Pistons so I thought it was important to have a prominent national writer on the latest episode of 2 Gods and a Goose, my latest podcasting venture.
On the latest episode, we first talk to Rod Beard of the Detroit News about the state of the Pistons, including how they might be able to improve with a few roster and lineup tweaks as well as the impact of the return of Reggie Jackson.
We also talk about polarizing forward, Stanley Johnson, and how his ceiling may or may not be fully reached depending on the situation and role he’s placed in.
Beard and I chopped it up about a few other NBA and general topics, including a hilarious story where he gets stuck on his roof and “allegedly” misses a Pistons game because of it.
Beard, like my co-host on the podcast Keith Eliot, is an ardent old school hip-hop fan so we pick his brain about the best beats and artists from his time and how they’ve impacted today’s artists.
Our second guest was nationally-recognized and respected writer for Real Ball Insiders and BBallBreakdown, James Holas. Holas is a polarizing figure, especially on Twitter, so the constant banter between him, Keith, and I during the podcast not only made for great content but plenty of laughs as well.
Holas gives us his opinion on why the Pistons are struggling, who is MVP candidates are, as well as whether Stan Van Gundy should be fired.
You can listen to the podcast on iTunes and Stitcher by searching “2 Gods and a Goose” or you can listen in the embedded audio.
A big thank you to Rod, James, and Keith for helping make this episode possible!
