Boban Marjanovic found a new home in Los Angeles this season. However, his time in Detroit helped make him into a Pistons fan-favorite even after his departure.
Despite not always being the best player on the court, Boban Marjanovic will always have a place in the hearts of Pistons and NBA fans.
The trade that brought Blake Griffin to Detroit sent Marjanovic, Tobias Harris and Avery Bradley to Los Angeles. Marjanovic was halfway through his second season with the Pistons.
Boban by the numbers
Marjanovic played just under nine minutes per game this season so his stats do not stick out in a crowd as much as he does. However, he was sitting behind All-Star caliber centers in Andre Drummond and DeAndre Jordan all season.
In 39 games played, Marjanovic averaged six points and almost four rebounds this season in split time between the Pistons and Los Angeles Clippers.
His averages this season fall right in line with his career averages. He has one year remaining on the three-year, $21 million contract he signed under Stan Van Gundy.
The Bobi & Tobi Show
Marjanovic’s greatest moments this season came from his antics on social media with some help from the likes of Tobias Harris and DeAndre Jordan.
Harris posted this tweet of Marjanovic towering over singer and actress, Jennifer Lopez:
When you’re too scared to holla at your celebrity crush so you send your best friend to Vegas to do it for you. 😎😎 S/o Bobi! He a real one!!!! @JLo 😉😂 pic.twitter.com/GydLSMttVP

The comedy/dance act of Tobi (Harris) and Bobi (Marjanovic) first took shape in January before the tandem was traded to LA. This video of Harris teaching Marjanovic some dance moves was only the beginning…

Thankfully, both players stayed together through the Griffin trade, and they fit in with the Clippers just fine. This video of the two dancing with DeAndre Jordan to Drake’s “God’s Plan” transcended sports fandom:
