Langston Galloway didn’t have the season he was hoping for in his first year with the Detroit Pistons. He posted career-lows in a number of major categories.

Former Detroit Pistons  head coach and president of basketball operations Stan Van Gundy signed guard Langston Galloway last off-season to a three-year, $21 million deal.

The Pistons were toward the bottom of the league in three-point shooting that season. Galloway was brought over for that specific reason.

Galloway’s versatility also landed him his biggest deal since becoming an NBA player. His ability to play both point guard and off the ball is a plus to any organization.

He posted career-lows in both field goal percentage and three-point percentage in his first season with the Detroit Pistons. Galloway also posted a career-low in minutes played per game.

Look, Galloway didn’t live up to any expectation. He struggled throughout the season.

Van Gundy also did a poor job at handling his minutes for a majority of the season. There were nights where he’d get close to 20 minutes and then he wouldn’t see the floor for the next two games.

It’s easy to imagine what that can do to a player’s confidence especially when they are already struggling.

I believe Galloway could’ve been utilized a little more when Reggie Jackson went down with his ankle injury. Ish Smith did an adequate job at taking the starting role. No one else managed to step up and take on the back-up role at that point.

He’s under contract for two more seasons with the Detroit Pistons. With new management coming in, it’ll be interesting to see how much he sees the floor next season. That is if he is still a Piston next season.
