It was a season of improvement for Andre Drummond with the Detroit Pistons. He upped his free throw percentage by a whopping 21.9 percent, and displayed a sneaky good passing game leading to a career high in assists per game.

Here is Detroit Pistons center Andre Drummond demonstrating his hustle and his passing instincts against Indiana to get Luke Kennard an easy bucket.

Andre by the Numbers:

Andre Drummond played in 78 games this season. He averaged a career high 33.7 minutes per game. He averaged 15 points, 16 rebounds (a career high), 3 assists (also a career high), 1.5 steals and 1.6 blocks all per game.

Drummond shot 52.9 percent from the field and 60.5 percent from the free throw line. That’s a 21.9 percent increase!

Drummond led the league this season in offensive rebounds, defensive rebounds and total rebounds. He moved to fifth all-time rebounding in Detroit Pistons history.

What about the top four? I’m glad you ask. They all have their jerseys hanging in Little Caesar’s Arena.

He placed well within all defensive metrics including 6th in the league in blocks, while also placing 31st in the league in steals. He was also able to lead the league in defensive win shares as well.

Andre by the Eye:

In previous seasons, one could accuse Drummond of poor effort and attention within games. You definitely could not accuse him of that this season.

Andre put in tremendous effort and focus this season and improved in all areas of the game.

He became a much better rim protector. This was really evident through the first 20 odd games where the Pistons actually had a top 10 defense.

Andre Drummond’s Season Grade:

A+ – Andre had a tremendous season and couldn’t have done any better to help his team. He has continued his improvement and is still only 24 years old. It’s crazy to think what he could do next season with his continued improvement. There wouldn’t be many centers in the league that I would take before Drummond.
