Glenn Robinson III is everything that Stanley Johnson is not: a reliable 3-point shooter, an above-the-rim nightmare, and a much more polished offensive player.

Which is why he should start at small forward for the Pistons this year. Both Robinson and Johnson have athleticism. But it’s Robinson who has the ability to score in almost every way possible.

He is a career 41.2 percent 3-point shooter, as well as a career 42.4 percent shooter. Most of his scoring opportunities are generated organically, meaning that his game can translate to any offensive system.

Robinson doesn’t need plays that are specifically designed for him. While 31.1 percent of his field goal attempts came in spot-up situations, it was Robinson who set himself up for a majority those looks.

This differs from most spot-up shooters, who are not only stationary, but also depend on a point guard to create the necessary space.

When one utilize quickness the way Robinson does, it’s very difficult for the defense to keep up.
