While his tenure in the Motor City was largely a failure, it would be wrong to overlook some of the things he did right.
Not since the Flip Saunders days had the organization seen such stability. Sure, that doesn’t always translate into wins. But Van Gundy helped make the Pistons somewhat relevant again. There’s no denying that.
