Stan Van Gundy’s tenure with the Detroit Pistons may have ended on a sour note. But those who were along for the ride know that it wasn’t all negative. Here are the top five moments from a wild era in Pistons history.

When you’ve coached the second-most games in team history, you’re bound to have some fun along the way.

Stan Van Gundy and the Detroit Pistons certainly had their fair share.

While his tenure in the Motor City was largely a failure, it would be wrong to overlook some of the things he did right.

Not since the Flip Saunders days had the organization seen such stability. Sure, that doesn’t always translate into wins. But Van Gundy helped make the Pistons somewhat relevant again. There’s no denying that.

They were without a true plan from 2009-2014. At least under Van Gundy, they actually had a plan in the first place. It just didn’t work out. That’s the nature of professional sports.

But to completely write off and forget the last four years would be unfortunate. There were some incredible games in between. And if you’ve made it this far in the article, you know that to be the truth.

From a four-overtime battle, to forming a wall, here are the top five moments of the Stan Van Gundy era.
