December 18, 2015: Pistons top Bulls 147-144 in quadruple-overtime thriller

According to Land of Basketball, the Pistons’ 147-144 win over the Chicago Bulls on December 18, 2015 was (at the time) the 11th game in NBA history to go into quadruple overtime.

Nine players scored in double figures, and a total of 19 finished with at least one point. There were 16 lead changes in a contest that lasted 68 minutes. In real-time, the game took three hours and 24 minutes to complete.

Andre Drummond led the Pistons with a 33-point, 21-rebound performance.  He also added three assists, three steals and two blocks in 54 minutes of play.

Chicago countered with Jimmy Butler, who registered a game-high 43 points on 14-for-29 shooting.

Every Pistons’ starter played over 48 minutes, the regulation time of an NBA game. Yet they barely escaped, as Butler missed a 26-footer that would’ve tied the game at 147 with one second remaining.
