August is always the low-point of the NBA calendar. Training camp won’t begin until late September. In the meantime, here are three ways Detroit Pistons fans can pass the time.

July has free agency and Summer League.

September has training camp and the Hall of Fame Enshrinement Ceremony.

August has…the schedule release? Yeah, that’s about it.

For Detroit Pistons fans (and basketball fans in general) the eighth month of the year is arguably the most grueling. As I like to say, the annual dog days of the NBA off-season begin on Aug. 1.

You know the routine.

All the notable free-agents have already made their decisions. The Pistons’ roster has been set for a few weeks now. Even Carmelo Anthony has finally settled on his next destination (be happy it wasn’t Detroit).

Barring something similar to the Kyrie Irving-saga last August, life should be relatively quiet in the NBA this time around.

So, what’s a fan to do for the next four weeks? Besides getting overly excited for the 2018-19 schedule, I have a few ideas in mind.

Here are three ways that Pistons fans can survive the dog days of the NBA calendar.
