Detroit Pistons: A closer look at preseason schedule release
By Travis Gibbs
The Detroit Pistons released their five-game preseason schedule that features a game on a college campus. Who’s else is anticipating just having basketball back?
We now know that October 3 is when the Detroit Pistons will begin playing basketball again. They released their preseason schedule today.
Here’s a look at dates and the teams they will be playing:
- October 3 – @Oklahoma City Thunder
- October 5 – @San Antonio Spurs
- October 8 – vs. Brooklyn Nets
- October 10 – vs. Washington Wizards
- October 12 – vs. Cleveland Cavaliers
There are some interesting things to keep an eye out for with the preseason. Let’s begin with the San Antonio Spurs game.
Pistons head coach Dwane Casey was fired by the Toronto Raptors. They shipped out All-Star guard DeMar DeRozan shortly after that. He was traded to the San Antonio Spurs in a deal that in turn brought Kawhi Leonard to the Raptors.
It will be the first time the two will be seeing each other on opposing teams.
The Pistons will also get an early look at Russell Westbrook and the Thunder. The highlight of their summer was signing Paul George to keep him in Oklahoma City. Carmelo Anthony has moved on.
The Nets are currently rebuilding and look to make a jump this season. The Washington Wizards are a playoff-caliber team.
The game that will be highly anticipated is Detroit’s final preseason game against the Cleveland Cavaliers. They took Alabama stand-out Collin Sexton in the top ten of this year’s draft to be the future at point guard.
This game is also going to be played at the Breslin Center on the campus of Michigan State University. It will be the final preseason game for the Pistons so it will be the final chance to get a good look at the roster before the games start to matter.
Yeah, it’s the preseason. Basketball will be back and that’s the most important thing.
