The Detroit Pistons have added new players to their roster through free agency and the NBA draft. Which new player are you most excited to watch?

Since the end of last season, we’ve seen the Detroit Pistons add talent to their roster through the NBA draft and free agency. They did so without a first round pick and limited cap space to add free agents.

New members in the front office had their hands tied for those specific reasons. That doesn’t mean that they weren’t able to add any players that won’t help this team win games.

The Pistons added Glenn Robinson III, Zaza Pachulia, and Jose Calderon through free agency. They drafted Khyri Thomas and Bruce Brown. Detroit also signed Keenan Evans as an un-drafted free agent.

The most noteworthy loss in the off-season was Anthony Tolliver. He’s now with the Minnesota Timberwolves. Which new member are you most excited to watch in the upcoming season?

My answer would be Khyri Thomas.

Why fans should be excited about Khyri Thomas

There are a few reasons why Thomas should be one of the most anticipated newcomers for the Detroit Pistons.

He’s a fantastic defender. He was named the Big East Defensive Player of the Year two years in a row. Thomas averaged nearly two steals a game.

He’s also a fantastic shooter. Thomas shot 53 percent from the field in his final season at Creighton. He also shot 41 percent from three-point range.

Overall, Thomas is a good all-around player. He rebounds, moves well in transition, and does everything that people don’t notice.

He averaged 15 points a game but doesn’t come off as the player that can average double-digits every night in the scoring column. He knows his role and that’s perfect. Many young players try to force things to happen at times and it can hurt their cause. Thomas is not that type of player.

Defense and three point shooting are two valuable skill sets that every NBA team is looking for. This is a skill set that new head coach Dwane Casey can build around as well.

The shooting guard position is up in the air for the most part on this team as well. We know that Reggie Bullock or Luke Kennard will start at that spot. Outside of that, minutes are up for grabs.

Langston Galloway has yet to prove anything for the Pistons. Based on the skill sets and what both Thomas and Brown showed in the summer league, Thomas seems to be the better player as of now.

I believe that Khyri Thomas has the biggest opportunity to make an impact out of all off-season acquisitions for the Detroit Pistons.
