#11 Jose Calderon

Another unexciting yet consistent player, Jose Calderon is entering his 14th season in the NBA and his second stint with the Detroit Pistons.

Calderon is known as a good locker room guy who can competently run an offense. He’s not going to dazzle anyone with his play, but he’s always been a reliable point guard.

Calderon is a sufficient passer, decent ball-handler, and he’s always been a solid 3-point shooter, albeit at a low volume.

I expect that he was brought in to be “Reggie Jackson insurance” in case the starter sustains another injury.

Last year, when Jackson went down, Ish Smith was forced into the starting lineup. Smith, who is deadly against bench units, struggled mightily among the starters. If Jackson goes down again this year, expect Calderon to start a handful of games for the Pistons.
