With the NBA season right around the corner, it’s a time to see how the Detroit Pistons stack up in the Eastern Conference. Ben Lanza separates the contenders from the pretenders.

At media day last week, Detroit Pistons’ forward Blake Griffin spoke with reporters and issued a bold statement.

"“Our team expectations should be high. In the East, with our roster, I don’t see why getting home court in the playoffs is not a reasonable expectation.”"

To some, this may seem like a lofty goal, as Detroit hasn’t had home court in the playoffs since 2008.

While the Pistons would certainly need a great record to break into the top four, it’s how the rest of the East plays out that’ll determine where they actually finish.

Lets take a look at the landscape of the conference right now.
