Game day information thread: Detroit Pistons vs. Boston Celtics
By Travis Gibbs
The Detroit Pistons and the Boston Celtics play the first game of a back-to-back on Saturday night at Little Caesars Arena. Here’s everything you need to know before tonight’s game.
The Detroit Pistons will face their biggest test of the season tonight when the Boston Celtics come into Little Caesars Arena.
The Celtics are 3-2 while the Pistons are 4-0 early on this season. This is the first time since the 2008-2009 season that Detroit is undefeated through their first four games of the season.
Boston looks to be one of the best teams in the eastern conference this season. Many analysts believe they are the favorite to come out of the conference when it’s all said and done.
The Detroit Pistons are looking to prove the doubters wrong. Many have them sitting on the edge of the playoff bubble once again this year.
Last year, the Boston Celtics won two out of their three meetings with the Detroit Pistons. They have won five out of the last seven games dating back to the 2016 season.
Head coach Brad Stevens has had this team vastly improve in each of the last five seasons. Dwane Casey is looking to change the culture of the Detroit basketball. It’s an organization that hasn’t won a playoff game in over a decade.
Injury report
The Detroit Pistons and Boston Celtics are both teams that have players going through injury problems right now.
Luke Kennard left the game after taking a hard hit on a screen. He is expected to be out for a couple weeks with a shoulder injury. The Pistons have a lot of depth at the shooting guard position luckily.
The Celtics have two players that will likely be game-time decisions. Former Piston Aron Baynes is dealing with a hamstring injury and forward Daniel Theis has a foot injury.
Boston will need depth in their front court when going up against the likes of Andre Drummond and Blake Griffin.
