Overall coaching

Overall, Casey was able to lead the Raptors to 59 wins last season, with a second-place finish (113.8 points per 100 possessions) in offensive rating and a fifth-place finish (105.9 points per 100 possessions) in defensive rating.

Part of this was his ability to adapt and change after years of playoff failures while trying to attempt more 3-point field goals and close two-point shots.

Stan Van Gundy does deserve some credit for coaching job he did in his four seasons with Detroit. The Pistons improved defensively every season he was at the helm of the team (11th in defensive rating last season) and were able to finish fifth overall last season at 37.3 percent from beyond the arc.

If the Pistons continue to follow the trend of what Dwane Casey started in Toronto last season with a high number of threes and layups, they could very well have a highly successful year provided the team is healthy.
