The Detroit Pistons will be playing their second game of a back-to-back with the Boston Celtics. The Pistons lost the first one 109-89 on Saturday against Boston.
Saturday night was the first time the Detroit Pistons have lost this season. The Boston Celtics came to town and brought a lot of people back to earth.
They spanked the Pistons 109-89 in game that wasn’t close from the beginning.
The Celtics managed to hold Blake Griffin to just seven points in the game. Griffin was averaging over 30 points a game going into Saturday night’s contest.
Jaylen Brown led the Celtics with 19 points. They also had three players off the bench that ended the game in double-figures in scoring. Andre Drummond led the Pistons with 18 points.
Stanley Johnson seemed to be the lone bright spot from this game for the Pistons. He scored 16 points on 6-11 shooting and 3-8 from three-point range.
It’s just unfortunate that he finally started to play well on a night where Detroit lost by 20 points.
The Pistons have a chance to redeem themselves tonight against a team that will likely be contending for the top seed in the eastern conference this season.
Injury report
Both teams are are dealing with their own injury problems right now. The Pistons are going to be without Luke Kennard for the next couple of weeks because of a shoulder injury.
That is something that happened late last week against the Cleveland Cavaliers.
The Boston Celtics have two big men on their injury report. Daniel Theis is now out indefinitely with a foot injury. It’s never good news that someone is injured.
However, Theis tagged the Pistons with 17 points and eight rebounds off the bench on Saturday.
With Theis going out, it’s likely that the Celtics will get Aron Baynes back for tonight’s game in Boston. The former Piston has been dealing with a hamstring injury.
