In an article by Vice Sports, Detroit Pistons’ star Blake Griffin was noted as having one of the worst contracts in the league. Do you agree?

The Detroit Pistons hold one one of the worst contracts in the NBA, according to one source.

After trading for Blake Griffin almost a year ago, they acquired one of the bigger contracts that the league has to offer. He’s currently on the books for five years, paying out at $171 million in total earnings.

That’s an average of $34 million a season. In his final season with the Pistons, Griffin is set to make almost $40 million.

Vice Sports recently put together a list of the top five worst NBA contracts. Here they are in order:

  1. Andrew Wiggins – $146.6 million through 2023

  2. John Wall – $188.5 million through 2023

  3. Dion Waiters – $36.3 million through 2021

  4. Nicolas Batum – $76.6 million through 2022

  5. Chris Paul – $159.7 million through 2022

Michael Pina then gives an honorable mentions list. That features four players: Blake Griffin, Kevin Love, Chandler Parsons, and Russell Westbrook.

Can you believe how many Pistons fans wanted the team to pursue Wall after the Wizards got off to a slow start and were rumored to blow things up.

I couldn’t imagine having Griffin’s contract and Wall’s deal at the same time. That’s the definition of being handcuffed.

Do you think Blake Griffin deserves to be in the conversation?

Right now, it might be a bit unfair considering how he’s playing. Griffin is really evolving as a player with the Detroit Pistons.

He taken on a giant leadership role under Dwane Casey.

Griffin’s game has changed to where he could be considered a ‘point forward’ this league. He’s also become a ‘stretch four’ type of player that he never was when he was in Los Angeles with the Clippers.

Griffin is still one of the most athletic players in the NBA on top of all of it. He has a giant contract but he doesn’t have the limitations that a lot of these other players have.

Russell Westbrook is another guy that doesn’t deserve to be in this conversation because of everything he does for the Oklahoma City Thunder.

Pistons fans, it’s your turn. Do you believe that Griffin has one of the worst contracts in the league? Or is he worth his value?
