Andre Drummond and the Detroit Pistons ended their six game losing streak, defeating the Boston Celtics 113-104 at Little Caesars Arena.

The Detroit Pistons know how to leave their fans hooked in till the final second.

The Pistons almost forgot how to beat a full court press with under a minute ago, but fought off the stingy Celtics to hold onto the win.

In the latest Pistons loss to the Charlotte Hornets, Blake Griffin missed two free throws to give the Pistons the lead late in the game. Outside of the final debacle with the full court press, he made sure that didn’t happen this game.

With three minutes to go, the Celtics cut the Pistons 16 point lead to seven. Griffin then drew a double team, that led to a Reggie Bullock three. The next two possession, Griffin drew fouls and put the Pistons up 14 making all four of his free throw attempts.

Griffin ended this game with 27 points, eight rebounds, six assists and shot 10-13 from the free throw line after starting 2-5 from the stripe. It was obvious took the last loss especially hard after missing those free throws, and he corrected that this game.

New starting lineup?

The Pistons fan base got the starting lineup many of them have been asking for. Dwane Casey started Luke Kennard and Bullock on the wings, alongside the Pistons big three.

Kennard exhibited his great feel for the game with a couple nice dump-offs for easy dunks after getting defenders to bite on his pump fake from outside. He finished with 10 points and shot 100 percent from the field, making all four of his shots, two of them being from downtown. Kennard finished with +10 plus/minus.

Bullock ended with 15 points  and shot 4-10 from beyond the arc. His long range sniping ability has been missed while he’s been out, and the Pistons felt the return tonight. His and Kennard’s ability to stretch the defense helps the rest of the team on offense and makes it hard for opposing teams to double Griffin.

Pistons MVP of the night

Andre Drummond had one of, if not the, best performance of the year. Drummond was an absolute monster on defense, in the pick and roll and in rim protection.

He finished with one point shy of another 20-20 game, finishing with 19 points, 20 rebounds, five blocks, three steals, and a game high +12. The Celtics resorted to hack-a-Dre late in the game, but Drummond made them pay. He made three of the four attempts at the end, and finished the game 7-9 from the stripe.

He earned himself a standing ovation by everyone in Little Caesers Arena with the play of the game. With 1:25 to go in the game, Drummond rotated from the top of the three point line to absolutely swallow Jayson Tatum’s dunk attempt at the rim.

Drummond was arguably the best player on the court tonight, and continues to have another All-Star season for the Pistons.

The Detroit Pistons improved to 14-13 on the season, and will take on the Milwaukee Bucks on Monday at 7:00 pm for their next contest.
