The Detroit Pistons could use a gift or two during this holiday season. Here’s what they need to get back on the right path.

With less than five sleeps until the big guy breaks and enters drops into all our houses and delivers lots of goodies, what should the Detroit Pistons have on their Christmas Wish list to Santa?

Have they been naughty or nice this year? Will it all come true… time will tell!

1. Health

The Detroit Pistons are one injury away (Blake Griffin or Andre Drummond) from being in a fairly dire circumstance.

Over their last 10 games where they’ve had injuries to the ‘supporting cast’ they only managed 3 wins, one of which was an overtime great escape against the Minnesota Timberwolves.

More. Player grades: Griffin, Bullock shine this week for Detroit. light

Injuries to Ish Smith, Luke Kennard, and Reggie Bullock have really affected the spacing in particular due to the latter two.

The Detroit Pistons rely so heavily on their two big guys that for them to have any chance of maintaining a playoff position, they need to play as many games as possible.

Luckily Drummond is incredibly durable and other than his rookie season has played at least 78 games, whereas Blake Griffin has a well-known injury history which we all hope is behind him!

2. Finish above .500 after December

December is one of the most challenging months of the Detroit Pistons schedule, and if they can maintain .500 record at the end they will be in good stead for the rest of the season, and have a pretty good shot at making the playoffs.

They didn’t help their case by losing to the Atlanta Hawks on Sunday who are just 9-23 on the season now.

The Pistons have just three games left in the month of December. Two of those teams are not even in the current playoff picture.

In order to finish the month of December above .500, they will have win all three of these games.

3. Start Hitting Shots

The Detroit Pistons currently rank 28th in the league for three-point shooting percentage, and 29th for field goal percentage, meanwhile they rank 7th in three point attempts, and 3rd in field goal attempts.

Their defense has been reasonable and as of recently they’ve improved their defense statistically! But unless they can start to hit shots, opponents will always be able to close in on Blake Griffin and Andre Drummond in the paint with reinforcements.

Next. Reggie Bullock starting to thrive in Dwane Casey’s system. dark
