The Detroit Pistons went on a 22-2 and led this game by as much as 20 points in the third quarter. They held off the late Wizards comeback to win 106-95.

The Detroit Pistons held off a late surge from Trevor Ariza and the Washington Wizards to get back to .500, winning 106-95.

After going on a 22-2 run in the third quarter, the Pistons were up by 20 points. It looked like they were going to runaway with a home win against these Wizards, but then Ariza erupted.

Ariza hit five threes in the second half, on his way to scoring 16 points in the game. Ariza hadn’t hit a field goal the entire game, and his five threes in the second half were his only made field goals in the game. He finished the gamer shooting 5-14 from the field and 5-10 from distance.

The Pistons also contributed to this comeback by shooting themselves in the foot repeatedly. They had 24 turnovers in this game, which is their most since April 17th, 2013. They haven’t won a game with that many turnovers since April 12th, 2004, the same year they won the championship.

Dwane Casey used a new starting lineup in this game, which will surely cause some controversy amongst Pistons fans. After starting Luke Kennard and Reggie Bullock on the wings to add shooting the teams starting lineup, Casey removed Kennard and added Bruce Brown to the starting lineup.

Not only was Kennard removed from the starting lineup, he didn’t even see the floor this game. Casey has had some seriously questionable rotational decisions, and this will definitely be added to one of those by Pistons followers.

However, Brown did play pretty well. For what it’s worth, in the last 17 games Brown is shooting 40 percent from beyond the arc. It’s only been on 20 attempts, but still that’s shocking.

He ended this game with a game high plus/minus of plus 25. He had eight points, four rebounds, a steal, and shot 1-3 from distance.

Andre Drummond had his tenth straight double-double, recording 16 points, 11 rebounds, four assists, three steals, and two blocks. He was intentionally fouled late in the game, but made both his free throws. He finished the game 4-4 from the charity stripe.

Galloway gets hot off the bench

Langston Galloway had 22 points coming off the bench, and was a big part of the Pistons third quarter slaughter. Galloway shot 8-12 from the field and 4-7 from distance. He received more minutes than starter Brown and really brought some needed scoring off the bench.

The bench really struggled outside of Galloway, only totaling 13 points outside of him. Outside of Galloway, the bench shot 5-12 from the field and had six turnovers.

Not a good game for the Pistons bench.

Blake stuffs stat sheet

Blake Griffin had a good game tonight, outside of absolutely losing Ariza on a couple of wide open threes.

Griffin had 23 points, nine rebounds, six assists, two steals, and one block. He shot 9-19 from the field and shot 4-9 from deep range. Griffin and Drummond really dominated this game from inside-out.

If you combine their stat lines, it’d look something like this.

39 points, 20 rebounds, 10 assists, five steals, three blocks, on 50 percent shooting from the field. Drummond and Griffin stuffed the stat sheet tonight, and were the main reasons the Pistons won this game.

The Detroit Pistons return to action on Friday at Indiana to take on the Pacers. You can tune in at 7:00 pm on Fox Sports Detroit to catch tip-off.
