Pistons take on Miami Heat in Wade’s final visit to Detroit

The Detroit Pistons welcome Dwyane Wade to Detroit for the final time in his career, as the Pistons take on the sixth seeded Miami Heat.

The Detroit Pistons are currently a game and a half behind the final spot in the playoffs, belonging to the Charlotte Hornets.

With the return of Ish Smith, the Pistons will hope to get on a bit of a run before the All Star break to get into better positioning for the second half of the season.

The Pistons will look to get that run started tonight against Dwyane Wade and the Miami Heat. The Pistons are only 2.5 games behind the Heat in the playoffs, so this game is quite important.

The Detroit Pistons are coming off a win against the 10th seeded Orlando Magic, who are only half a game behind the Pistons. As you can see, every game against one of these eastern conference teams is a playoff game for the Pistons.

If Blake Griffin and the Pistons want to make the playoffs, these games have to be won.

The Pistons will be welcoming Wade to the Little Caesars arena for the last time, as Wade will be retiring at the end of the year.

Wade is averaging 13.8 points, 3.9 assists, 3.5 rebounds a game in 25 minutes off the bench for the Heat.

The Pistons and Wade have been through some battles over the years, including the 2005 and 2006 Eastern Conference finals match-ups that saw Wade and Pistons split the series.

When acknowledging this being his last visit to the Motor City, Wade said, ” I grew up versus Detroit. They’re the ones that made me mentally tough. You had to be mentally tough versus those guys.”

Wade said the fans during these times made the rivalry even better. Anytime Wade and his teammates would visit the Palace for a game and they’d go out to do extracurricular activities while in town, he’d hear “Detroit Basketball!” chanted everywhere they went.

“When you got off the bus, wherever you go, it was “Detroit Basketball!” all over the city. It made the rivalry fun.”

The Detroit Pistons and their fans will say their final goodbye to Wade tonight at 7:00 PM.
