Buddy Hield breaks Detroit Pistons heart with game winner
By Ku Khahil
Buddy Hield hit a game winner to end the Detroit Pistons win streak and drop the Pistons to 20-25. Blake Griffin dropped 38 points, but it was not enough.
The Detroit Pistons led for the majority of this game against the Sacramento Kings.
Heck, they even had a double digit lead.
Those happen to disappear quite quickly for the Pistons.
Buddy Hield dropped 15 points in the fourth quarter and hit a game winning three, bringing the Kings back from a double point deficit for the win.
Hield had 20 points in the first half, but went scoreless in the third quarter. He more than made up for the goose egg he laid, and stopped the Pistons from continuing their winning streak.
Hield ended the game with 35 points, nine rebounds, three assists, shot 13-22 from the field and 7-9 from long range.
Point guard De’Aaron Fox gave the Kings 14 points, 10 assists, and six rebounds. Rookie Marvin Bagley chipped in 14 points off the bench and stayed physical with Blake Griffin throughout the game.
Speaking of Griffin, he tried his hardest to win the Pistons this game.
Griffin ended with 38 points on 12-23 shooting, including the layup that gave the Pistons a one point lead with 50 seconds left.
Griffin was heated throughout the night at the refs, and was visibly giving one of the refs a hard time throughout the night after calling Griffin for a technical for arguing a call.
Some of the frustration had to be from his teammates not giving him much help, outside of Luke Kennard.
Kennard seems to have turned the corner for the Pistons, which is great news for a team needing production from the wing position. Kennard’s main issue has been his hesitancy to let it fly, but he’s been encouraged recently to get as many shots up as possible; which is paying off for the Pistons.
Tonight, Kennard ended with 19 points on 7-12 shooting from the field and 4-6 from beyond the arc.
No other Detroit Piston scored in double figures.
This loss drops the Detroit Pistons to 20-25 and moves the Kings to 24-22.
The Detroit Pistons will be back in action Monday against the Washington Wizards at 2:00 pm eastern time.
