The Detroit Pistons have not been playing well lately. The upcoming game against the NBA leading Bucks can be a turning point for the season.
Sitting two games out of a playoff spot, the Detroit Pistons host Giannis Antetokounmpo and the Milwaukee Bucks, who hold the best record in the NBA.
Coming off a six-point defeat to the Oklahoma City Thunder over the weekend, the Milwaukee Bucks look to rebound against the struggling Pistons. The Bucks are led by MVP candidate and Greek freak, Giannis Antetokounmpo and is surrounded by a superb supporting class. Guard Eric Bledsoe and forward Khris Middleton lead a group of role players that make the Bucks a deep team that is a threat to anyone in the NBA on any night.
On the other hand, the Pistons season has not gone as many fans anticipated it to go. Blake Griffin has been playing the best year of basketball in his career, but outside of that, the Pistons have lacked to have any other player constantly play at a high level, causing them to drop in the eastern conference rankings and out of the playoffs.
In the last meeting between these two teams, the Bucks routed the Pistons 121-98. Since then, the Pistons have gone 5-8 and have not looked motivated to win any games.
If the Pistons want to have a chance to upset to Bucks, they need to get great play from their starting guards. While Reggie Jackson did play well in his last game against the Bucks, Reggie Bullock and Bruce Brown scored a collective six point and shot 2 for 15 from the field. If the Pistons want compete in this game, they cannot afford to surrender a large lead with their starting lineup in the game.
At the end of the day, this game can turn into a one on one between Griffin and Antetokounmpo, who are two of the best player in the eastern conference.
Winning a game with this much importance can be the tipping point for this franchise, no matter which direction the teams goes. If the Detroit Pistons get blown out in from of their home crowd, the front office may decide to trade away some player and look for fresh faces to surround Griffin with.
On the flip side, if the Detroit Pistons come out and play with heart and compete at the level all fans hoped to see at the beginning of the year, this could be the start of an early playoff push for the Detroit Pistons.
