The Detroit Pistons have agreed on a trade to send Reggie Bullock to the Los Angeles Lakers in exchange for Sviatoslav Mykhailiuk and a draft pick.
The trade is set to become official on Wednesday with the pick coming to the Detroit Pistons believed to be a 2021 2nd round pick for this year. The Detroit Pistons will also create a $2.5 million trade exception through the trade.
Reggie Bullock is currently averaging 12 points, 2.7 rebounds and 2.5 assists per game. Reggie who is in the last year of his current deal and is currently the starter for the Detroit Pistons at small forward, will help the Lakers immediately with their shooting. He is currently 26th in the league in three-pointers made, and currently 85th in the league in three-point percentage after a slow start to the season. He finished 27th last season.
Sviatoslav Mykhailiuk is a 21 year old, foot 8 rookie small forward who was drafted 47th overall in last years’ draft. He has featured in 38 games for the Lakers this season averaging 3.2 points, 0.8 rebounds, and 0.8 assists in 10 minutes per game. He shoots 33.3% from the field, 32.1% from three, and 56.3% from the free throw line.
Sviatoslav started 5 games for the South Bay Lakers in the G-League and averaged 29.2 points, 2.6 rebounds, and 2.4 assists in 32.6 minutes per game. He shot 49.1% from the field, 44.9% from three, and 80% from the free-throw line.
His contract is non-guaranteed for next season and has a team option for the 20/21 season. The deal saves the Detroit Pistons approximately $1 million this year, with the ability to free up his contract either this off-season or next.
The Pistons were unlikely to be able to retain Bullock this off-season so it gives them a team controlled asset for someone they were likely going to lose anyway.
I don’t think the Detroit Pistons are done yet and I think this signifies future moves, so keep on the lookout until the trade deadline at 3pm on the 7th of February!
Everyone here at Piston Powered wishes Reggie Bullock all the best in his career, and he’ll be missed greatly.
