The Detroit Pistons squandered an opportunity to come within .5 game of sixth seed and had their winning streak snapped at three by the San Antonio Spurs.
The Detroit Pistons had a good a first quarter offensively, but gave up 32 points where they found themselves down 5 points.
It was a different story the rest of the game.
The Pistons, after hitting four of their first five threes, struggled to score in the second and third quarters.
The San Antonio Spurs also had stretches of ugly offense, with DeMar Derozan and LaMarcus Aldridge starting out 1-8 from the field.
Aldridge turned it around, however, scoring 24 points on 11-22 shooting from the field. Derozan flirted with a triple double finishing with 17 points, 13 rebounds, and eight assists on 7-13 shooting from the field.
Luke Kennard struggled from the field for the Pistons after stringing some great performances together before. Kennard finished with 8 points on 4-12 shooting from the field and 0-6 shooting from downtown.
The Pistons as a team struggled from the floor, shooting 36 percent from the field. Their three point shooting kept them relevant in a game that saw Blake Griffin and Andre Drummond shoot a combined 11-32 from the field. The Pistons shot 15-38 from downtown, which is good for 40.5 percent.
Langston Galloway gave the Pistons some life off the bench in the second half. Galloway scored all of his 11 points in the second half, where he shot 4-8 from the field and 3-5 from downtown.
Reggie Jackson led the Detroit Pistons with 22 points on 8-18 shooting from the field and 5-12 from deep.
A few shots at the end of the game made Jackson’s box score look more inefficient than he actually was. Jackson kept the Pistons afloat with his outside shooting throughout this game; which is a change of roles for the Pistons with Jackson flourishing and Griffin struggling.
The Detroit Pistons squandered an opportunity to come within .5 game of the Brooklyn Nets for the sixth seed, after the Nets lost to the Washington Wizards 125-116.
The Pistons fall to 29-31 and snap their three game winning streak. They will two days to rest until they take on the Cleveland Cavaliers in Cleveland on Saturday.
