The Detroit Pistons are taking on Karl Anthony Towns and the Minnesota Timberwolves in a chance to go above .500 for the first time since December.

The Detroit Pistons welcome the Minnesota Timberwolves to Little Caesers Arena, with a chance to move above .500.

The Pistons are coming off of an emotional overtime win against Dwane Casey’s former team, the Toronto Raptors. That win launched the Pistons to .500 for the first time since December.

The Timberwolves are playing on the back end of a back-to-back, after they defeated the Oklahoma City Thunder last night 131-120.

The Pistons are in the thick of the playoff race, and are trying to move up the standings. They are currently tied for the sixth seed with the Brooklyn Nets, but own the tie breaker. A win tonight would put them in firm control of the sixth seed. They currently hold a 2.5 game lead on the eighth seeded Charlotte Hornets.

Karl Anthony Towns has had trouble against Andre Drummond, as Towns is currently 0-8 against Drummond; if you want to count the All Star game for fun, he’s 0-10 against Dre.

However, Towns has been on absolute tear as of late. Since returning from a three game absence, Towns is averaging 36.4 points, 16 rebounds, 4.0 assists, and 1.0 block a game over the past five games. He’s shooting 60 percent from the floor and 47 percent from three on 6.8 attempts.

Drummond will look to hold Towns down a bit and add another one to the win column for the Pistons and his head-to-head match-up with KAT.

The Piston player to watch in this game is Luke Kennard. Kennard has been one of the Pistons biggest bright spots over the Pistons 9-2 stretch.

Over the past 11 games, Kennard is averaging 13.6 points, 2.5 assists to .8 turnovers, and is shooting 49 percent from the field and 48 percent from deep on 5.6 attempts. He’s averaging 26.5 minutes off the bench over this stretch.

The Detroit Pistons will need Kennard to continue his growth and production off the bench against Minnesota. They have Sixth Man of the Year candidate Derrick Rose off the bench for them, and Kennard will have to try and offset some of the bench production he gives.

Zaza Pachulia is doubtful due to Achilles inflammation and Jon Leuer is questionable due to a knee injury. Luol Deng and Robert Covington are out for the Minnesota Timberwolves.
