Drummond and Detroit Pistons crush Karl-Anthony Towns and Timberwolves

Andre Drummond and the Detroit Pistons win in a dominating fashion against Karl-Anthony Towns and the Minnesota Timberwolves 131 to 114.

There is something about Andre Drummond that gets him pumped to square up against Karl-Anthony Towns. Andre Drummond and the Detroit Pistons always come out on top. The Pistons top the Timberwolves in a blowout fashion

The Pistons got off to a tough start. Minnesota was getting everything going for them; including foul calls. The Pistons couldn’t get anything to go for them.

Karl-Anthony Towns got to a good start in the first quarter. But was clearly out-shined in the quarter by Drummond; who hit a three with .3 seconds left in the clock. The Pistons were still down 35 to 22 at the end of the quarter.

The Pistons would go down as many as 16 points. But it would be the bench amazing performance to bring the Pistons back into the game.

Ish Smith was swishing and dishing. Cool hand Luke Kennard was throwing alley-oops to Thon Maker and making jumper after jumper.

Andrew Wiggins kept Minnesota from absolutely laying an egg in the quarter. But the Pistons bench did just enough to bring the game tied at 55 to 55.

From there the Pistons would go up 55 to 57. But the Timberwolves would end the quarter strong. The first half score sat at 64 to 60 in favor of the Timberwolves.

Second Half

The second half started the way the Pistons didn’t want it to start. Minnesota went up 8. But Andre Drummond would show his dominance over Towns.

Drummond was getting everything he wanted when Towns was guarding him. Drummond scored 14 points in the 3rd quarter and forced Towns to foul him multiple times.

Drummond’s dominance showed so much that Taj Gibson would throw an elbow at Drummond. Gibson was ejected with a flagrant 2 foul.

Even with Drummond’s performance in the third quarter, the Pistons only took a 2 point lead into the 4th after a made three from Glenn Robinson III.

It would be the fourth quarter where the Pistons would run away with the game. Once again the Pistons bench lit up the floor. Kennard, Galloway, Ish, and even Thon Maker sent the Timberwolves back home.

Karl-Anthony Towns would foul out with his 6th foul. Andre Drummond waived him goodbye as he made his walk of shame towards the bench.

Before tonight’s game Drummond had been winning the match-up against the Towns.

Tonight Drummond won the war again.

Drummond posted 31 points, 15 rebounds, 3 assists, 1 steal, and 2 blocks on 11 for 18 shooting.

Towns posted 24 points, 4 rebounds, 2 assists, 2 blocks, and 6 turnovers on 7 for 14 shooting.

Key Notes

Andrew Wiggins had a quiet 18 points.

Jeff Teague, who was hounded defensively tonight; had 15 points and 8 assists.

Bruce Brown played excellent defense on just about anyone he was guarding.

Reggie Jackson had a quiet night. But with Ish Smith rolling; you can’t really complain.

Luke Kennard continued his sharpshooting performances. He had 21 points on 8 for 16 shooting.

Ish Smith had 19 points and sparked the Pistons to a win.

Langston Galloway, Thon Maker, and Glen Robinson III combined for 28 points.
