The NBA Draft date is set for June 20th. The Detroit Pistons will be selecting with the 15th overall pick in the draft. Or at least that’s what the scenario is right now.
The Pistons are stuck in a tough position. Do they want to trade the pick? Do they want to draft a young prospect? This is something that will be in the minds of the front office all day and everyday up until the time comes where they are forced to either trade the pick or draft a young prospect.
Draft night trades can really improve how a team performs. Packaging a pick and a player could improve in a certain position. It can also bring in a reliable rotation player that could impact a team more than a rookie.
The Pistons wouldn’t mind an upgrade that the point guard position. They also wouldn’t mind a proven veteran wing player that they can rely on. But may fans want a young wing prospect that the Pistons can develop into a star player.
But draft night trades can also end up in a disaster. You could miss out on the next superstar type player in the draft. And fans would never let that go against the front office. They could also trade for a player that eventually plays poorly with the team.
