Domantas Sabonis and Victor Oladipo to OKC!

The Orlando Magic desperately wanted to improve their roster in the 2016 draft. After trading multiple time defensive player of the year winner Dwight Howard to the Lakers in 2012, the Magic struggled to make it back to the playoffs.

They were in full rebuild mode. The Magic were selecting 11th overall in the draft. And many teams predicted the Magic would keep their pick.

And just about everyone was wrong. The Magic have traded the 11th overall pick, young wing player Victor Oladipo, and Ersan Ilyasova to the Thunder in exchange for Serge Ibaka.

This was really a puzzling move by the Magic. They traded a young player in Oladipo and the 11th pick for an aging Serge Ibaka. The Thunder would go ahead and take Domantas Sabonis at 11.

This was a huge win for OKC. After riding with both Sabonis and Oladipo for the season, they would end up trading both players for superstar player Paul George in the 2017 off-season. This helped Westbrook’s decision of signing an extension with the team.

For the Magic on the other hand, this move would become even more puzzling. They would trade Ibaka later in the season to the Toronto Raptors for their 2017 first round pick and Terrance Ross.

Ross would become a good rotation player for Orlando. He helped Orlando climb out of their playoff drought this season and snag the 7th seed.

Sabonis would become a great starter in Indiana and Oladipo would become an all-star player that has taken the place of Paul George in Indiana.
