Mike Conley

The Pistons were rumored to be strongly interested in Mike Conley last season and talks reportedly heated up at the trade deadline.

The cost for Conley at the time was too much for the Pistons, and Detroit ended up not pulling the trigger on the trade. But, apparently, every other team interested in Conley felt the same way, as Conley ended up having to finish the season with the Memphis Grizzlies.

Now with the Grizzlies acquiring the second overall pick in the draft and reportedly already being locked in on point guard prospect Ja Morant, Memphis is going to look to unload Conley this off-season.

The Detroit Pistons will very likely still be interested, as the value Memphis was asking for at the trade deadline will likely be less at this point in time.

Conley has consistently been one of the most underrated players the NBA has seen. Conley has played in 56 playoff games and was the starting point guard during the Grizzlies Grit N’ Grind era; a team that advanced to the Western Conference Finals twice.

Over the past three seasons, Conley has put together averages of 20.5 points,  6.2 assists, 1.3 steals, on 44.3 percent shooting from the field and 38 percent shooting from deep on 6.1 attempts a game.

With zero All-Star appearances to say for it.

Conley is coming off a career-high 21.1 points per game and will be turning 32 in October.

Conley is under a massive contract that sees him earn 32 million this upcoming season and 34 million the following season. With Blake Griffin and Andre Drummond already taking up a major chunk of the salary cap, this could be considered a risk to the Pistons.

However, if the deal is right, expect the Pistons to pull the trigger this off-season.
