Say hello to the newest Detroit Piston’ Sekou Doumbouya. The Detroit Pistons have selected him with the 15th overall pick in the NBA Draft!

With the 15th overall pick in the NBA Draft, the Detroit Pistons select Sekou Doumbouya from France!

After trading for Tony Snell, the Pistons were still looking to draft a wing player. So they made their selection by selecting Sekou Doumbouya.

Sekou Doumbouya played overseas in France. He impressed many scouts and opened a lot of eyes in this year’s NBA Draft. He averaged 7.8 points per game, 3.3 rebounds, and .7 steals on 48.2 percent shooting from the field and 34.3 percent from three.

His stats isn’t as bad as it looks. Most players who play overseas usually have lower stats than college players. Sekou isn’t the greatest shooter. But he has shown the potential that he can improve in that area.

Sekou played with the Limoges in the LNB Pro a League. The 18-year-old is 6’9 with a 6’11 wingspan and weighs at 230 pounds. He doesn’t have the greatest length of some of the draft prospects. But he still has some length that could help him defensively.

He may not be the greatest fit right now for the Pistons. But his potential was enough to lure the Pistons into drafting him. Sekou was projected as a top 12 pick in most mock drafts. He fell to the Pistons lap at 15. The Pistons will likely have him as a backup small forward behind Tony Snell.

He will unlikely become an immediate impact for the Pistons. He’s a project type player that has the potential to become an all-star player. The Pistons training staff could help him become a Pascal Siakam type player.

We’ll see how he pans out for the Detroit Pistons! Only time will tell and congrats to him and his family on the amazing accomplishment!
