As one of the most exciting NBA offseasons in recent memory continues, trade rumors are already swirling around the Detroit Pistons’ Andre Drummond and the future-Warrior D’Angelo Russell.

The Detroit Pistons are in the middle of a successful offseason and headed for a make-or-break season for several players on the roster.

Multiple key players including Reggie Jackson, Langston Galloway, and Thon Maker are in the last year of their contracts. If none of those contracts are traded before the trade deadline in February, the Pistons are likely to let them walk.

However, the team’s most polarizing player could also be playing his final season in Detroit.

Andre Drummond signed a 5-year, $127 million contract to remain with the Pistons in 2016. Drummond’s deal includes a player option that he can use next summer to become a free agent.

In what appears to be a weak class and with Drummond’s stock at its career-high, it should be expected that the former All-NBA center will opt-out.

Drummond has spent his entire career in Detroit, but today’s NBA fans cannot assume he will give the Pistons any sort of breaks in terms of his next contract.

The front office may choose to offer Drummond a max deal to keep him for the long-run. However, he may choose to move on if he wants to be on a regular title contender for the first time in his career.
