Blake Griffin went on the Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, cracked a few jokes, vented about media interviews and shares a memorable heckling experience.

Detroit Pistons road trips have to be fun with comedian Blake Griffin around.

Griffin, 30, appeared on the Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon to promote his charity comedy show, Comedy By Blake.

One of the best stories Griffin shared was when Fallon asked if he had been heckled while doing comedy.

“Not while I was doing comedy,” Griffin said. “I get heckled all the time playing basketball. Just by fans, especially on the road.

“One of my first games in Portland, I was a rookie, just checked in, standing next to this guy named Kurt Thomas. It was super quiet in the arena so everybody could here him and this guys said, ‘Hey Blake, the coolest thing you’ve ever done is stand next to Kurt Thomas.’ I was like at this point, yeah.”

His love for comedy developed watching Saturday Night Live with Adam Sandler and Fallon. He accidentally started his comedy career in Montreal.

“I had a call in to the director and he was like, ‘Do you want to host the Midnight Surprise show,'” Griffin said. “And I was like ‘Yeah, sure,’ just thinking it was going to be like, ‘and now so-and-so,’ and it turned out it was going to be like 10 minutes so I had to go write 10 minutes.”

Most of his bit is about basketball, he admits, saying its the only thing he knows.

Fallon was curious as to how players find out about free agency news and Griffin was at the Comedy Store watching his friend on stage. Just before he came on stage, Griffin saw the Kawhi Leonard news on Twitter.

“He came off stage and was like, ‘how was it?’ I was like, ‘I don’t know, this is huge,'” Griffin said.

The best part was Griffin’s critic of post-game interviews, saying comedy has helped him there. Then he made Fallon get active to prove his point.
