The Pistons have one of the least desirable salary cap situations in the NBA. However, it could be a lot worse.

The Detroit Pistons are entering the 2019-20 season in a position they have been all too familiar with over the last few seasons – a middle-of-the-pack team paying out salary more than it should.

All-Star power forward Blake Griffin is getting the bulk of it.

Griffin, 30, is making $34 million this upcoming season and will make $36.5 million the following season. He will have a player option for nearly $40 million in 2021 when he is 32 years old.

Although he lived up to his contract in the 2018-19 season – making the All-Star team and earning All-NBA Third Team honors – that amount of money locked up in one player is scary for any team and fan base.

However, the risk/reward associated with Griffin pales in comparison to a handful of other players around the NBA.

Here is a look at some of the contracts in the NBA that are cap nightmares in comparison to the Pistons star.
