Chris Paul

Blake Griffin’s former teammate Chris Paul has had his own unique journey since “Lob City” disbanded in Los Angeles.

That journey led to Paul to a massive payday.

Paul is headed to Oklahoma City for at least the beginning of the 2019-20 season after the Russell Westbrook trade, according to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.

The trade brings the remainder of the four-year, $159.7 million contract Paul signed in 2018 with the Rockets to the rebuilding Thunder.

Paul’s remaining contract at 34 years old is enough to make it far less favorable than Griffin’s deal.

For the final three years of his contract – including his player option – Paul will make $38 million, $41 million, and $44 million. He played in just 58 games each of the last two seasons due to injuries.

Durability, age, and a contract deep into his 30’s make Paul’s contract the nightmare it is for the Thunder to now try and flip again.
