Pistons reality

Even with All-Star players like Griffin and Drummond doing their best to recruit around the league, it will continue to be difficult to get free agents to come to the Detroit Pistons.

Signing Derrick Rose for only 2 years, $15 million was impressive work but the Pistons have always had to build through the draft and by making trades, not through free agency. Players don’t view Detroit as a destination to mentor young players, or as a place that they can try to get a ring. That will only come when a winning culture is established once again.

Dwane Casey and Griffin have both said numerous times that they view last year as a stepping stone. It was great to lay the foundation to building a winning team, but for either of them to view it as a success they must continue to move forward, not backwards.
