Thon Maker

For Pistons fans who have not seen much of Maker yet he is a lanky 7-foot-1 forward/center hybrid with guard skills. Like Johnson, Maker is a player who you will never have to question his effort level.

In only his second game as a Piston, Maker played inspiring defense blocking Wizards big man Bobby Portis, appearing to leave his tooth in the process. Do not fear for Maker’s pearly whites Pistons fans as his teeth were okay. Maker just needed five stitches to fix a loose flap of skin that was caused in the effort to block Portis.

The play put Maker’s toughness on display and officially indoctrinated him in as a Piston’s “bad boy.” In a city that loves grit and grind, Pistons fans will grow to love Maker as he works to iron out the wrinkles in his offensive game. The main concern for Maker going forward is that he fills out his frame.

At 7-foot-1, 221 pounds, Maker is very frail and regularly gets pushed around in the paint despite his best efforts. If he is able to add muscle, with his combination of size and skill he has the potential to be a very good NBA player.

Maker’s best game of the season came against the Indiana Pacers where he put up 14 points, 6 rebounds, 2 assists, and 4 blocks. While Maker only had a half season of games with the Pistons this year, this game showcased Maker’s scoring, rebounding, and rim protection abilities.
