Zaza Pachulia

Zaza Pachulia, 34, was the second oldest member of the Pistons this year behind only Jose Calderon, 37. This in some ways was a benefit to the team as Pachulia provided toughness and veteran leadership both on and off the court for the Pistons this season. Pachulia’s age was also a downfall for the team in the sense that when matched up against more athletic bigs, Pachulia simply does not have what it takes to keep up anymore.

While Pachula did an alright job of backing up franchise center Andre Drummond, the Pistons front office are looking like they are moving on from the center when they claimed young promising big man Christian Wood from the New Orleans Pelicans.

In his 16th NBA season, Pachulia was not expected to put up eye popping numbers, and he didn’t. He did however, provide quality backup minutes that were valuable for Drummond to get some rest.

Additionally, Pachulia was a solid free-throw shooter this season shooting 78 percent from the stripe which is a huge upgrade over Drummond’s 59 percent from the line. Pachulia’s best game of the season came against the Kings when he put up 7 points, 12 rebounds, 3 assists, 1 steal, and 1 block.
