Detroit Pistons: Pros and cons of signing Derrick Rose
Con: Floor Spacing
One of the main areas where the Pistons struggled last season was 3-point shooting.
From top-to-bottom, the roster lacked floor-spacers to create room for Griffin, Jackson, and Andre Drummond to operate. Even though Detroit attempted the sixth-most three pointers per game last season, the team converted an abysmal 34.8 percent of them -good for 22nd in the league.
While the front office has attempted to address this lack of 3-point shooting by signing proven shooters like Tony Snell, Rose’s signing does not help. While he shot an impressive 37 percent from three last season, at this point it should be considered an aberration.
Rose is a career 30.4 percent three-point shooter, hardly making him a threat on the perimeter. Though he did shoot 37 percent from distance last season.
There’s no question Rose can get to the rim and score -shooting from deep, however, is a different story.
