By Ryan Love
All-Decade First Team
- Andre Drummond
- Reggie Jackson
- Tobias Harris
- Blake Griffin
- Reggie Bullock
The Pistons’ All-Decade First Team is a collection of players with the only recognizable accomplishments for the team in that time span.
Newer is Better
If players could be ranked individually among these teams, Drummond would rank first as the best player of the decade in Detroit.
- 2x All-Star
- 4x Rebound Champion
- 2012-13 All-Rookie Second Team
- 2015-16 All-NBA Third Team
- 2 Playoff Appearances
Drummond has been the anchor for the Pistons since his debut in 2012 and remains the centerpiece around which the team has been built around.
Jackson – for all his flaws – has been the best Pistons point guard since the prime of Chauncey Billups.
Jackson has averaged 16.3 points and 5.6 assists per game in five seasons with Detroit.
He ranks eighth in 3-point field goals made in franchise history and served as the only reliable threat from three before the team brought Griffin, Kennard, and Reggie Bullock.
Bullock, though his time in Detroit was short-lived, made his mark as the best shooter the franchise had seen in a decade of mediocrity from beyond the arc.
Bullock made his mark on the Pistons in just three-and-a-half seasons after a rocky start to his career elsewhere. His final two seasons in Detroit found him as a usual starter – averaging over 11 points per game and maintaining a 3-point percentage around 40.
He ranked second in the NBA in 3-point percentage in 2017-18.
Tobias Harris, similar to Jennings, made his impact on the franchise both in his short Pistons career and in the value he built to trade for a better piece.
Harris averaged 16.8 points per game in his two-and-a-half seasons in Detroit. He is the type of player that can take over a game when an offense is struggling and he did just that regularly for the Pistons.
He served as the go-to guy as Jackson suffered from injuries during much of his tenure. Fans will remember the great start the team got off to in 2017 before Jackson went down and Harris was the only one left to try to keep them afloat on offense.
Harris was the best player on the team that season only to be traded to the Los Angeles Clippers for the most accomplished player the franchise has had since its championship days.
Blake Griffin had the kind of season in 2018-19 that earned him this All-Decade First Team spot in limited work.
Griffin had an MVP-caliber season in the final year of the decade for the Pistons:
- All-NBA Third Team
- All-Star Selection
- 189 3-point field goals made (14th in NBA)
- 1841 points (10th in NBA)
He was an early favorite for MVP before the team began to slip late in the season.
Griffin averaged the most points in a season for any Piston since Jerry Stackhouse in 2000-01.
He and Drummond have the opportunity to make this list for the following decade should the team decide to hang onto both in the upcoming seasons.
