Tim Frazier is the latest addition to the Detroit Pistons roster for the 2019-20 season. We preview the likely third-string point guard.

Making a push for depth at point guard, the Detroit Pistons signed Tim Frazier to round out their backcourt.

Frazier, 28, has been a journeyman with the Pistons being his sixth team in as many seasons. Only twice has he spent a full season with one team.

This is the third player preview for the 2019-20 season, a weekday series extending through August on Piston Powered.

However, the last two seasons he has finished the year earning minutes in the playoffs, but only seeing significant time (3.6 minutes per playoff game) last year with the Milwaukee Bucks.

He played in 11 games during the 2019 playoffs, scoring 21 points on 8-for-13 shooting, including 3-for-6 on 3-point attempts. He dished out 10 assists to three turnovers and grabbed nine rebounds during Milwaukee’s playoff run.

The 6-foot-1 point guard out of Penn State provides the Pistons insurance in case Reggie Jackson or newly-signed Derrick Rose were to miss extended time with an injury. Frazier has averaged 18.2 minutes per game throughout his career.

When given appropriate playing time, Frazier can ignite an offense. He scored a career-high 29 points with 13 assists on April 10 against the Oklahoma City Thunder last season. Two weeks prior he scored 20 points while tying a career high with 15 assists against the Hawks on March 31st.

In both instances, he showcased he can score at all three levels, play off the ball and has a high IQ on offense, being able to find his open teammates for easy assists.
