Reviewing Frazier’s 2018-19 season

Frazier’s season began in training camp with the Milwaukee Bucks before he was ultimately beat out by Christian Wood, who will go to camp with the Pistons, for the final roster spot. Frazier was waived to make room for Jodie Meeks, who the Bucks received draft picks for since he was suspended.

Thus, Frazier began the season with the New Orleans Pelicans, who he joined for the third time in four seasons. He’s played 128 of his 245 career games, and earned 53 of his career 70 starts in a Pelicans uniform. The Bucks acquired him late in the year when the Pelicans waived him.

In 59 games last season, Frazier averaged 5.3 points, 4.2 assists and 2.8 rebounds in 19 minutes per game. He finished with an 11.7 Player Efficiency Rating (15 is league average) and had a career-high 54.4 true shooting percentage.

Impressively, Frazier matched his career-high in assists with 15 in a March 31st game at Atlanta. He finds his teammates in rhythm on the 3-point line and in transition. He has a career 31.1 assist rate that dipped to 27.6 last year.

He also scored a career-high 29 points on April 10th against the Oklahoma City Thunder, where he showcased his ability to score at all three levels, although he needed 23 shots to do so. He was 4-for-6 from 3-point range and was 5-for-7 from the free throw line.

Frazier has been a standard two-way player with 3.8 of his 6.8 career win shares coming from the defensive end. Last season, however, he had 1.3 offensive win shares in 2 total for the season.

Notably, he shot a career-best 36.6 percent from 3-point range last year, including connecting on 10-of-24 (41.7 percent) of 3-pointers in 12 games with the Bucks.

While Frazier has postseason experience, it was limited time and mostly late in games that were out of hand.

Let’s set expectations for next season in the Motor City.
