The NBA is will release the regular season schedule at 3 p.m. on Monday but the Detroit Pistons preseason schedule hasn’t been announced yet.
If the Detroit Pistons preseason schedule is four games in total, then the schedule has been pieced together.
Four Pistons preseason games are known by way of opposing teams announcing their preseason schedules. The Pistons have yet to announce theirs and time is ticking before the before the NBA announces the regular season schedule on Monday at 3 p.m. ET.
Detroit will host the Orlando Magic on Oct. 7 at 7 p.m. The Pistons won last season’s series 3-1 with an average win margin of 9.7 in the three games. Detroit protected home court. It should be a quality matchup with star centers Andre Drummond and Nikola Vucevic.
The Cleveland Cavaliers will come into town on Oct. 11 at 7 p.m. Detroit won the series from the Cavs 3-1, including an average win margin of 18 points per contest. The Pistons won both meetings at Little Caesars Arena. Cleveland features fifth overall pick Darius Garland, who is reportedly fully recovered from a left meniscus injury that sidelined him for most of his final season at Vanderbilt.

Then, the Pistons are scheduled to head to Philadelphia to take on the 76ers on Oct. 15 at 7 p.m. Detroit lost the season series 3-1 after winning the opening contest 133-132 in overtime. Philadelphia won the next three games by an average of 10 points per game. Ben Simmons, Joel Embiid, former Piston Tobias Harris and newly-signed Al Horford will match up against Blake Griffin, Reggie Jackson and newly-acquired Tony Snell.
Detroit completes a back-to-back in Charlotte the next day at 7 p.m. The Hornets swept the three-game series by an average margin of 8.7 points per contest, including two in Detroit. Gone is star point guard Kemba Walker, meaning the Hornets will feature a young team centered around newly-signed Terry Rozier, Nicolas Batum, Miles Bridges, Malik Monk and rookie forward PJ Washington.
There is still a mystery game on the Pistons schedule, at least considering the other four opponents have a five-game preseason schedule.
With several newcomers – Derrick Rose, Tim Frazier, Snell, Markieff Morris, Christian Wood and Sekou Doumbouya – the time is valuable to get experience with their new lineups and adjusting to the pace and Dwane Casey’s offense.
For the Pistons, working on the chemistry will be critical as they look to improve upon a 41-41 season that netted them the eighth seed in the Eastern Conference.
