The Pistons came out absolutely flat against the Timberwolves, outscored 35-22 in the first quarter. However, the one man who didn’t was Drummond, who led both teams in scoring with nine in the first including a buzzer-beating 3-pointer. Along with another 14-point effort in the third quarter, he led all scorers with 31 points for the game.
The Pistons after being down for big early made it a back and forth game in the second and third quarter, eventually taking the lead near the end of the third.
Once the fourth quarter commenced, Drummond was but a spectator to some spectacular shooting from his teammates. Three’s from Luke Kennard and Langston Galloway opened the quarter, along with a few buckets and a flagrant foul from Minnesota took the game out of reach and the Pistons sailed to a 17-point victory.
Drummond (31 points and 15 rebounds) out performed the phenom of Karl-Anthony Towns (24 points and 4 rebounds). Despite the national spotlight and obvious talent of Towns, Drummond can show just how good he can be against the leagues best centers. Drummond has a rare talent for rebounding and his eight offensive rebounds outperformed the entire Timberwolves team.
