Centers

Andre Drummond

With no other official center on the roster at this time, Andre Drummond gets the start. Even if there was another center, there would only be a couple of big men in the league I would start over him.

Drummond led the league in both offensive and defensive rebounding last season, again. This time though, he finished top 6 in the league in steals and blocks. He just keeps making strides and improving and that can only be a good thing.

At the backup position it depends solely on the pairing. I would go with Maker as the primary backup. Yes, he has his deficiencies but if you pair him with Morris, then the toughness and grittiness of Morris can cover for the lack thereof with Marker. On top of that, there aren’t many teams where a traditional center would be needed off the bench.

Maker is also a tremendously hard worker, and I value quite a lot, particularly off the bench. We know he is always going to give maximum effort.

On top of all that, with the signing of Beasley, I fully expect Christian Wood to be waived prior to opening night where he cost the Detroit Pistons anything.
