Williamson is the most exciting prospect to enter the league since LeBron James, and Pistons fans quickly became familiar with James since he played in the Central Division. Since the Pelicans play in the Western Conference, their trip to LCA will be the only one next season.
The Pelicans drafted three players in the first round, and many Detroit Pistons fans hoped that their team would select combo-guard Nickeil Alexander-Walker. The Pelicans drafted Alexander-Walker at 18, to pair with Jaxson Hayes and Zion Williamson. They also received a ton of draft picks from the Lakers for Anthony Davis, along with Lonzo Ball, Josh Hart, and Brandon Ingram.
In free agency, the Pelicans added the sharp shooter J.J. Redick as well as big man Derrick Favors. While they are no lock to make the playoffs in the difficult Western Conference, they will be a lot of fun to watch, and seeing Zion Williamson in person would be a treat.
