Reviewing Mykhailiuk’s 2018-19 season
Most of Mykhailiuk’s minutes were rotational minutes with the Lakers but, as is the case with a 37-45 Lakers campaign, there wasn’t a lot of consistency. He was primarily a 3-point shooter, converting 31.8 percent of his 85 attempts from 3-point range with the Lakers. Those accounted for 64.4 percent of his total shots (132) with the Lakers.

He set his career highs in points and assists with a 12-point, four-assist performance in a Dec. 15 game against the Charlotte Hornets. He showed good awareness on when to drive baseline and whether to take a layup attempt or find an open big around the rim. Most notably, he was able to knockdown his spot-up 3-point opportunities, finishing 3-for-6 from deep.
Mykhailiuk was slightly above his season average on catch-and-shoot attempts, converting 32.9 percent of those.
An encouraging sign was the ability he showcased during the eight games he played in the Gatorade League. He averaged 23.5 points, 3 assists and 2.6 rebounds per game.
His reason for playing in the G-League was evident – to get more experience on the offensive and defensive ends. With a greater role he proved his offensive ability, especially in a 47-point game.
During that contest there were plenty of spot-up, 3-point attempts. He showed his ability to cut off-ball and get himself scoring opportunities around the rim.
With an expanded role, Mykhailiuk proved he could be efficient, connecting on 45.6 percent of shot attempts, including 40 percent beyond the 3-point line. He averaged 18.6 shots per game and 7.5 from 3-point range.
