Looking ahead at Detroit Pistons 2020 free agents
Christian Wood- Unrestricted Free Agency
Christian Wood is the other Piston making his debut on the team this season. Wood has only played 51 games in four years, but his best work was last season. Wood was signed mid-season and due to Anthony Davis’ trade request, and Nikola Mirotić being traded to Milwaukee with Thon Maker going to Detroit and Stanley Johnson going to New Orleans.
Wood scored 16.9 points, grabbed 7.9 rebounds, and had a steal and block per game in his eight games in the Big Easy. Wood was an absolute monster in his limited time in New Orleans. This rate of production at the price Detroit paid for could make for a great asset this season. Wood’s production won’t be nearly as good as he was last year, but if he plays some good minutes backing up Drummond, Griffin, Maker, and Morris, then he could get another year for the Pistons, most likely from $3 million to a minimum contract next season.
