Thon Maker- Restricted Free Agency

Thon Maker’s value will be one of the biggest question marks heading into the summer. He is going into his fourth season and is only 22 so the potential that made him a lottery pick could still be tapped into.

Maker’s playoff performance frustrated many Pistons fans as he kept jacking corner three’s, not making any of his 12 attempts. If he develops into the athletic frame that could make him an unstoppable force, then he could stay long term in Detroit. Sharpening his skills on the perimeter could help solve the question of his value next summer.

Maker’s value, like I said before, is going to be very hard to put a price on. If the Pistons are smart, I believe they will let another team start the bidding due to his status as a Restricted Free Agent, allowing them to match any offer.

Boban Marjanovic‘s two-year, $7 million contract, and Dragan Bender‘s two-year, $3.5 million contract could be some idea of Maker’s value. His size alone will get him a contract, most likely he will be added on to a championship contender as a specialist or a rebuilding team taking a flier on his potential he was drafted on.
