Andre Drummond- Player Option- $28.7 Million

Andre Drummond’s free agency will dominate the beginning of the 2020 free agency cycle due to the weak class this summer and the fact that Drummond leads the class along with the generational talent, Anthony Davis.

Drummond is, arguably, the best rebounder the league has ever seen and recently made history as the all-time leader in NBA history in seasons with at least 1,000 points, 1,000 rebounds, 100 steals, and 100 blocks with four seasons.

However, his offensive game is highly flawed as he can’t score outside the paint having zero mid-range or outside game. Drummond is the best of a dying breed in the modern NBA, the classic big man. No team has won a title in the recent era with a large majority of their salary cap going to a traditional center.

With another 1000, 1000, 100, 100 season expected, Drummond will most likely decline his player option and command a five-year deal in the $150-180 million range. That amount of money and how long it locks up the 26-year-old terrifies the Drummond-haters but the stats prove that his game is improving having a career year in points, steals, offensive rebounds, and double-doubles.

As one of those uneasy giving Drummond over $30 million a year for five years, if he improves on his outside game, (he was 5-for-38 from three last season) then he will be worth every penny. Draymond Green getting a four-year, $100 million max extension could be an indication of what Andre will command this summer.
