Markieff Morris- Player Option- $3.4 Million

The second of the two Morris brothers to become a Piston, Markieff Morris, looks to offer relief for Griffin at the four or share the frontcourt with him in a small ball lineup. Morris, along with Rose will lead the second unit this season most likely and should help the bench scoring problem of seasons past.

Morris is a good scorer who averaged over 10 points and 5 rebounds a game in Washington while averaging 40 percent from the field, 30 percent from three, and 80 percent from the free throw line. However this stat line was while Morris was a starter, he will be a bench player this year. In a bench role in Oklahoma City last season, he scored 6.5 points and grabbed 3.8 rebounds per game while shooting 34 percent from deep in the 16 minutes per game he played.

The $3.4 million player option will be accepted if Morris doesn’t find a better situation in the next offseason. Based on the last free agency cycle, he would most likely get around the $2-$5 million per year range again last year as he’s similar to Mike Scott and Anthony Tolliver. Scott signed a two-year, $9.8 million contract and Tolliver signed a one-year, $2.6 million deal.
